Lottie Jones, of Ruislip Against HS2, said: “We are of course disappointed at the judgement from The Supreme Court but the outcome does not diminish our resolve to continue our campaign against HS2.

“The case was never about whether HS2 is right or wrong but about whether the government are acting in the right way. Unfortunately today’s decision will add to the government’s arrogance and their belief that they can push ahead with HS2 however they like, with little regard for the environment or those who are adversely impacted by it.

“This fight is far from over and there are still more options for pursuing the case further in Europe. It’s important that Hillingdon residents understand that HS2 is still not legislated for, it’s not a ‘done deal’ and there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved and help Stop HS2.”

Emma Crane, campaigns director for HS2 Action Alliance(HS2AA) , said: “It sets a massively worrying precedent for other projects, like HS2, that people can ride roughshod over regulations by using a Hybrid Bill.

“That means it goes through Parliament and is voted on by MPs who are whipped, so they are more likely to vote for what the party wants. It does not have the same scrutiny under planning law.

“The public don’t have a say. We will be taking it to the next level, and that includes two things: First we will be making a complaint to the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee – which has the power to find that the Supreme Court’s decision means the UK is in breach of the UN Treaty obligations.

“The second thing is that we will make a complaint to the European Commission to say that the Government has not complied with the EU Treaty.

“We are disappointed at the result because it is not in our favour but that fact that it was taken to the Supreme Court shows we have a strong case.”

Hilary Wharf, director of HS2AA, added: “Lady Hale actually said that it should have been referred to the EU, but she was influenced by her colleagues. The difference between them sending it to the EU and us taking it is that we will have to make a complaint.”

Joe Rukin of Stop HS2 ( pictured above, left, with a fellow anti-HS2 campaigner): “It’s not totally unexpected. We have come a long way and we will keep fighting it. This judgement doesn’t change anything.

“HS2 is still a bad idea.”

“Non è del tutto inaspettato. Abbiamo percorso una lunga strada e continueremo a combatterla. Questa sentenza non cambia nulla.” 

Lottie Jones, di Ruislip Contro HS2, ha dichiarato: “Siamo ovviamente delusi per la sentenza della Corte Suprema, ma il risultato non diminuisce la nostra determinazione a continuare la nostra campagna contro HS2.

“Il caso non è mai stato sul fatto HS2 è giusto o sbagliato, ma sul fatto che il governo stanno agendo nel modo giusto. Purtroppo la decisione di oggi si aggiungerà l’arroganza del governo e la loro convinzione di poter portare avanti con HS2 tuttavia che piace, con poco riguardo per l’ambiente o coloro che sono negativamente influenzato da essa.

“Questa lotta è tutt’altro che finita e ci sono ancora più opzioni per proseguire ulteriormente il caso in Europa. ‘Importante che i residenti Hillingdon capire che HS2 non è ancora legiferato per, non è un’ affare fatto ‘e ci sono ancora molte opportunità di mettersi in gioco e contribuire a fermare HS2. ”

Emma Crane, direttore delle campagne di HS2 Action Alliance (HS2AA), ha dichiarato: “E ‘un precedente massicciamente preoccupante per altri progetti, come HS2, che la gente può calpestare regole utilizzando un Bill Hybrid.

“Questo significa che passa attraverso il Parlamento ed è votato dai parlamentari che sono frustati, quindi sono più propensi a votare per quello che il partito vuole. Non ha lo stesso controllo di diritto di pianificazione.

“Il pubblico non hanno voce in capitolo Saranno prese al livello successivo, e che comprende due cose:. Prima cosa sarà fare una denuncia alla Convenzione di Aarhus Vigilanza – che ha il potere di scoprire che la Corte Suprema decisione significa che il Regno Unito è in violazione degli obblighi previsti dal trattato delle Nazioni Unite.

“La seconda cosa è che faremo una denuncia alla Commissione europea per dire che il governo non ha rispettato il trattato UE.

“Siamo delusi per il risultato perché non è a nostro favore, ma il fatto che è stato preso alla Suprema Corte dimostra che abbiamo un caso forte”.

Hilary Wharf, direttore del HS2AA, ha aggiunto: “Lady Hale in realtà ha detto che avrebbe dovuto essere rinviata per l’UE, ma è stata influenzata dai suoi colleghi La differenza tra loro invio alla UE e ci mette è che avremo. per fare una denuncia. ”
